Graduate Karolina Smok is one of the latest talented recruits to take their career to the next level, by coming on board at Birtley Group. She joins the business as a Technical Scheduler, working closely with colleagues in the technical services team and across the wider company Group.
Karolina, who hails from Poland, settled in the North East 16 years ago. She gained a BSc in Architecture at Newcastle University before completing an MSc at Northumbria University. Despite finishing her MSc during the Covid pandemic, Karolina achieved a Distinction – something that she is justly proud of.
In her first role with a major high street bank, Karolina gained substantive transferrable skills. She told us: “I had a strong ambition to move into the UK manufacturing sector and was delighted when the perfect job arose at Birtley Group.
“It’s an excellent opportunity for me to apply my learned knowledge. I am looking forward to developing sector and product expertise and supporting the technical team and its customers.
“It is very satisfying that I can take my career forward within an innovative and supportive environment.”
Karolina reports to Lee Mundy, Technical Manager, who said: “The recruiting panel was impressed by the high calibre of Karolina’s application, her interview preparation, maturity and positive work ethic.
“She joins the technical team at an exciting time, when the business is seeing a marked increase in order volumes from both existing customers and new accounts.”
Karolina regularly visits the gym and has a keen interest in lifestyle and wellbeing.
